Learning our ABCs!

In prep we focus on knowing that spoken sounds and words can be written down using letters of the alphabet. We then learn how to write some high-frequency sight words and known words from our own vocaulary.

In order to learn, we need to be engaged and interested! Our class thoroughly enjoy participating in games that support learning the alphabet in a fun, dynamic and interactive way! We love watching and singing along with Alphabet Town! Students are able to point out letter formations and objects starting with that letter throughout the video.

The resource aligns with the Australian Curriculum and allows your child to recognise the most common sound made by each letter of the alphabet, including consonants and short vowel sounds.

Miss Duchnycz's blog lists the Alphabet Town song as a resource she successfully utilises in her Grade 1 class.

I have shared the song with you, I hope it doesn't worm it's way into your head like it has ours!
